Why youth wrestling (a short explanation of why you help coach youth wrestling)(100 words or less): There's no other sport as demanding both physically and mentally for a young athlete quite like wrestling. At the end of each wrestling match there is always a winner or loser. Success is not necessarily determined by which contestant's hand is raised after the event but more so on their individual performances between the start of the competition and the final whistle. Unlike other team sports, winning in wrestling is an individual triumph which is earned through hard work, dedication and a willingness to accept defeat. It is extremely gratifying to see youngsters develop their self confidence, character, endurance, drive and, most importantly, sportsmanship.

Why youth wrestling (a short explanation of why you help coach youth wrestling)(100 words or less): Wrestling for my career built a great deal of self confidence, respect, strong work ethic and the desire to be the best at what ever goals I set to achieve. I love giving back to a sport any way possible for having it develop so many characteristics in me. My favorite part doing what I do now is working with the kids and having them hit that single leg or their first pin and the excitement in their eyes on what they just achieved. Watching their confidence grow along the way. Wrestling is a lot like life you win some and you loose some but as long as you can pick your self up and continue on the path everything will fall in place.

Why youth wrestling (a short explanation of why you help coach youth wrestling)(100 words or less): Wrestling helps a child with physical conditioning, strength and coordination. More importantly, wrestling helps a child become more in tune with his own body and how to effect things and people around him. Kids still get in little pushing matches and wrestling gives a child the confidence to stand up for himself. It also develops better body technique for lifting things without injury which is an importand life long skill.

Why youth wrestling: Why Not? Ok now for the real reasons. Wrestling is a sport that can impact a person’s life in many arenas. It has also been said by many that “wrestling is not a sport but a way of life”. It builds confidence, strength, commitment, and independence. These are traits all parents would like to have their children exemplify. Youth athletics especially wrestling are building blocks that can set a young person on the path to master these skills and traits. I believe it is our mission as youth coaches not only to help cultivate the skills necessary to be successful on the mat but to instill the passion for a sport (way of life) in which the participants exhibit high levels of confidence, strength, commitment, and independence. Plus it is a BLAST!
